Time for a little honesty. My hair is a disaster. At this point, it has been a year and a half since my last haircut. Due to COVID-19 shut downs and restrictions where I live...it just hasn't been possible. Even during brief periods of time when salons opened back up, it did not feel comfortable or safe for me to have another person so close. Especially before vaccinations were an option. Currently, I have my first dose of the vaccine and I am anxiously waiting for my second dose. Fingers crossed it will be accessible to me before the end of the summer. In the meantime? My hair needs some serious TLC. I don't plan to visit a salon until I am fully vaccinated. So that means lots and nourishing hair care products. Like this treatment from Shea Moisture!
Now, this particular product has a doozy of a name. It is the Shea Moisture Manuka Honey and Yogurt Hydrate & Repair Protein-Strong Treatment. Try saying that three times fast! Essentially, it is a deep conditioner that is meant to strengthen the hair, combat breakage and split ends, and leave hair looking healthier. This was definitely a product that my hair was in need of. Since it has been such a long time between haircuts....and since almost all of my time is spent inside my home....my hair just hasn't been looking or feeling the best. It is heavy, overgrown, and ridiculously thick. I've been trying to use leave-in conditioners to give it a little extra boost, but it needed something more. Thankfully, there was the Shea Moisture Manuka Honey and Yogurt Hydrate & Repair Protein-Strong Treatment to help out my hair a little.
So...how does it work? The product is applied from the root of the hair to the ends, is left on for 10-15 minutes, and then is rinsed off. Pretty easy to use overall. It smells really nice as well. Nothing too strong or overwhelming. Just pleasant! As for whether or not it works? So far so good. My hair felt a million times better after using the treatment. It was softer, smoother, and my wavy hair looked a lot healthier. Though my hair still has a long way to go, this was a great starting off point. I plan to continue to use the deep conditioner until I run out. At that point, I will reassess whether or not to purchase a full-sized bottle. Based on the prices online, this would be pretty affordable, and could cost less than $15 CDN.
Currently, I am very happy with the results. Like I said...my hair needs an awful lot of love these days. The Shea Moisture Manuka Honey and Yogurt Hydrate & Repair Protein-Strong Treatment is the first step towards healthier and better looking locks. Fingers crossed this continues to work well and repair my overgrown pandemic hair.
How have you been keeping your hair healthy during the pandemic? Have you tried anything from Shea Moisture?
