131 NEW CASES, THURSDAY

There have been 131 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.

Specifically:

  • No deaths of patients with a final cause of death were recorded, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 557.
  • 60 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 22 are in serious condition. 56.67% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
  • 11 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized intubated in a serious condition due to COVID in Intensive Care Units.
  • A total of 56,507 tests have been performed to detect the disease using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 131 (positivity rate: 0.23%) new cases of COVID-19 were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 120,992.

Today's results are detailed.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 remains 557, of which:

  • 354 men (64%), and
  • 203 women (36%).

The average age of those voted by the disease is 76.3 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 60 patients of the COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in the hospitals of the CySEC, of which 22 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 22 patients who are in serious condition, 12 are intubated, one is hospitalized in an off-ventilator Intensive Care Unit and nine in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail, the situation in the hospitals is the following:

C. Positive cases of COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 56,507 diagnoses made, 4,916 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 51,591 by the antigen rapid test method, 131 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 10 cases from 245 samples taken through the process of contact tracing of already confirmed cases.
  • 4 cases from 2,571 samples taken in the context of passenger screening at Larnaka and Paphos Airports.
  • 39 cases from 1,783 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 6 cases from 198 samples taken from the Microbiology Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 55 cases from 30,811 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 17 cases from 20,780 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method through the Ministry of Health's programme.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 119 samples taken in the framework of the referral program by Personal Doctors and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
