In order to get back to Tokyo, we had to take the shinkansen in Shin-Takaoka station which services the high-speed Hokuriku Shinkansen for passengers traveling to Kanazawa. This station is small, but fairly new which opened on March of 2015.
Visitors will encounter this impressively humongous "Great Kabuto Helmet of Takaoka", as soon as they arrive in the station.
It's crafted with amazing details and quality.
Also, don't miss this colorful display of giant sushi nearby!
So cute! I loved taking a photo here!
During this time, there was a Tulip Fair event and all the flowers showcased here were all live and fresh!
I just had to check if they were alive at first lol. They looked too beautiful to be real.
SO MUCH GORGEOUS FLOWERS!! I was super overwhelmed, yet incredibly happy!
Checking out the souvenir shop with Hokuriku Shinkansen themed snacks and treats.
There's even a Hokuriku version of Shirotan!!
Waiting on the platform.
Bye Takaoka! I had such a great time and I sure hope to see you again!
We bought Masuno Sushi from the Ekiben shop and ate it on the train.
Now this was the full-fledged traditional style of Masuno Sushi, and even comes in it's own bamboo container which you can save and keep.
This is a pressed type of sushi, and is wrapped in fresh bamboo leaves.
The pink flesh of the trout looks really beautiful and elegant. I couldn't wait to taste it!
Digging into the sticky vinegared rice. This is perfect eaten just as it is.
You can also choose to buy snacks, souvenirs and drinks on board the shinkansen, although the selection is limited compared to the stuff sold in the stations.
We did buy some coffee anyway lol.
Approaching Nagano!
My friend recommended the dried Hotaru Ika (firefly squid) as a snack so I can try it out for myself.
It was salty and tasty enough but I wasn't a fan much of the bitter part of the squid ink sac.
Some vanilla ice cream for dessert.
I bought a bunch of these Doraemon and shinkansen themed notebooks for me and my friend as souvenirs.
I think this is a cute and useful souvenir from Takaoka!
Me and my friend love trains so I chose these designs.
